Questions about the spare time

Will there be organized tours together with leaders and other exchange students?
Yes, in most cases. These are optional tours offered the students at an additional fee and they often depend on the number of participants. The students will get information about such tours during the period they take part in the program.

Can I take a driving licence if the local regulations allow it?
Yes, if it the school that offers the training program and it is approved by the natural family in the home country, the host family and STS's partner in the host country. However, as an exchange student you may not use your driving licence and drive a car when the training is completed, but just take part in the training.

Will I be able to practise my favorite sport?
If you exert a particular sport or have another special interest it is important that you bring this up in your essay so that we may take this into account when placing you. Even if we do our best to meet your wishes we cannot give you any guarantees. The year abroad will also give you the opportunity to try a number of new and exciting sports.

Can I travel on my own?
As an exchange student you may participate in trips organized by the school or the local organization if this is approved by the host family and the natural parents in the home country. You are also allowed to travel together with your host family, but not on your own or together with a friend.
