Preparation course in the USA and France

When you are going to study at a high school abroad it is naturally useful to learn more about the country. So, in order to easier be able to adapt to your new life as an exchange student in the USA and France, you can take an optional preparation course. The preparation course in the USA is for ten days in the New York area, and the course in France lasts for a week in the Paris area. Here STS students from all over the world meet other students who are going for a High School year in the USA or France. The course is specially planned to suit exchange students and gives you a good start of your exchange year.

Give your exchange year a flying start
The course provides interesting facts about your country and its inhabitants while at the same time you get to practise your English/French. We go over subjects that are useful for you to know; among other things you will learn about the history of the country, its society and social networks, its politics, geography and culture. We also discuss everything you need to know about everyday life in an American/French famiy. In addition you will get a thorough introduction to school life. 
One important part of the course is getting to know how best to adapt to a new country and to a new family with different habits than yours.

Spare time and excursions
During the course you will also get the chance to do exciting things together with your new friends from various parts of the world. We arrange excursions, sports, barbecue evenings, dances and more. During the weekend those going to the USA will get the chance to experience "The Big Apple", New York City, and visit the famous sights with their course leaders as personal guides. Those going to France will experience Paris and all its famous sights. The course fee includes accommodation with full board, teaching and spare time activities.
